The micro-short play platform Stoy TV’s target output of 800+ plays, 100 million for the use of the sword

Following the strong start of the micro-short-stream media platform Story TV, launched by the media giant Eloelo Group of India, plans are under way to significantly expand its market coverage. Story TV recently announced plans to expand the micro-short play content library to over 800 in the coming year, with a target of 100 million users.

Story TV officially went online in June this year, and in just 60 days 200 micro-short plays were on the line, with more than 5 million users. Its micro-short play type covers topics such as romance, terror and crime, and includes prominent actors to ensure high-quality and professional standards for each episode.

According to internal data, its core audience is concentrated among young people aged 18-35, who spend an average of 75 minutes per day in the platform, while women account for more than 40 per cent of users, highlighting the strong appeal of the platform to diverse audiences. At present, Uttar Pradesh, Calcutta and Maharashtra are the three main core markets for Stoy TV, where users are particularly active and contribute to the rapid development of the platform in the region.

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Story TV, Sorabjee Pandy, said: “At present, the industry’s ecology is still heavily dependent on the global epidemic’s drama template, but this is rapidly changing. As a platform, we have witnessed first-hand the enormous scale that home-grown themes and stories can achieve with our diverse audiences and interests. To that end, we are incorporating the most talented actors and creative power in the industry.”

He added: “For Stoy TV, the essence of the micro-short play is to condensate television experience to the fingertips — to retain the emotional ups and downs, twists and suspenses that users are familiar with as they grow through soap operas and films, but to present it in the form of a vertical screen that is more in line with contemporary slide browsing habits.”

India is one of the fastest-growing digital entertainment markets in the world, benefiting from the surge in smartphone penetration (which is expected to exceed 1 billion by 2025), expanded network coverage and reduced data costs. According to industry reports, the combined annual growth rate of the short video and stream media market in India is expected to reach more than 20 per cent between 2023 and 2028, and micro-short dramas, as an emerging form of content, are rapidly becoming a central growth point for the market.

India’s audience has a deep-rooted preference for drama-driven content, and traditional television soap operas and Bollywood films shape their expectations of emotional conflict, family entanglement and dramatic transitions. Micro-short dramas meet fast-paced, mobile consumption habits in short, delicate formats (1-3 minutes per episode), while retaining high emotional density and tight narratives.

To support this ambitious blueprint, Stoy TV is in the process of being fully configured: working with more production companies to form an elite team of storymakers and senior industry experts, and significantly expanding its workforce. These initiatives are aimed at developing high-quality, resonant, micro-fatal content for the Indian audience and at promoting local narratives in the digital age. With the accelerated expansion of the Stoy TV, there is no doubt that India ‘ s micro-blind market will usher in a more intense wave of competition and innovation.
